Today is Saturday, August 26. It is Women’s Equality Day. This is the anniversary of women in the United States gaining the right to vote in 1920. Today also marks the 60th anniversary of the March on Washingto for Jobs and Freedom with a recreation of the march in Washington, D.C.. Tuesday, August 29 is Hijiri, the beginning of the Islamic lunar calendar or Islamic New Year. Thursday, August 31 is Ganesh Chaturthi. This Hindu Festival celebrates Lord Ganesha’s birth.
