Today is Saturday, May 25. May is Asian American Pacific Islander month. Sunday, May 26 the Jewish commemorate Lag BaOmer. Also known as the “Counting of the Omer,” this is a break between the seven weeks of Passover and Shavuot where certain prohibitions are permitted. Today, Jews remember the plague that killed thousands of students during the occupation of Judea. Monday is Memorial Day, the day we remember and honor those who lost their lives while defending our country.

This year’s Keynote Speaker is Ms. Cheryl Brown Henderson, daughter of the late Rev. Oliver Brown, lead plaintiff in the Brown vs. Board of Education court case that led to the desegregation of schools.
