Here is what is going on this week in the Rochester area:

1. Saturday, March 25; The F.I.R.E. organization is co-hosting a program with the Webster Central School District titled “A Webster Community Convening on Equity in Education” 8:30 AM – 11:00 AM, at Spry Middle School’s Professional Development Center (PDC), second floor, 119 South Avenue, Webster. 2. Richard Glaser shares this program about Harriet Tubman coming up on March 27 at 6:00 PM. It’s open to all. Please note you must copy the link below and paste in your browser to locate this program on March 27.

3. Reserve your spot now to learn about truth-telling, accountability, and reconciliation through restorative justice circles. Pedro Flores, Ph.D., a restorative justice practioner, clinician, and healthcare administrator from Southern California, will host one virtual and two in-person circles on Tuesday, March 28th and Wednesday March 29th. These sessions wrap up the Anatomy of Hate Grand Rounds series sponsored by the Office of Equity and Inclusion in partnership with the Department of Health Humanities and Bioethics, Paul M. Schyve, MD Center for Bioethics, and the Office of Alumni Relations and Constituent Engagement. The sessions are FREE and open to the public, however, pre-registration is required.

4. Barb Glassman of The Commissary and RocGrowth share information on this special event on March 31:

The Commissary is a shared kitchen incubator in Downtown Rochester helping to reduce barriers for food startups. Many of The Commissary member businesses are BIPOC and woman-owned; all excited to share their talents and cuisines with the Rochester community.

The Secret Ingredient: A Benefit for The Commissary, will be held on March 31 at the historic Sibley Building and will feature 30+ Commissary member chefs, bakers, makers, and entrepreneurs. Experience delicious culinary creations, participate in kitchen tours, view live demos, drink custom libations, and groove to a live DJ on vinyl.

5. The City of Rochester is sponsoring the Black Heritage Gala on April 1, 6:00 PM – 12:00 AM. See below for ticket information.

6. The Urban League of Rochester announces that the The RASE (Racial and Structural Equity commission report) Community Update Meeting will happen on April 17th, 2023 from 6 pm to 8 pm via Zoom. Zoom link will be sent shortly.
