The second is the Declaration of Indepence, published in today’s D&C.. If we are going to celebrate it, we should read it.

This past Thursday, I sent a sharing urging you to consider this unique opportunity for exposure to some vital ROC history:  “Clarissa Uprooted”.  It’s a multimedia exhibit held at the RIT downtown campus City Art Space.  First floor direct entrance opposite the Liberty Pole. We’re encouraging all current and former ERG participants to join us sometime between 2:00 and 5:00 on Friday, July 15. I have sent additional information to Facilitators and coordinators of alumni cohorts so possibly you can participate as groups.

Richard Glaser shared a couple of items this week:

1st. He states, “This is a story germane to us, here in ROC, after the seizure of property throughout the 7th and 3rd Wards in the name of urban renewal. The evictions were often done at below market valuations. There could be a form of reparation that makes sense – maybes to the families who felt the deleterious impact. The Clarissa Uprooted exhibt is a powerful depiction of the injustices that took place not so long ago that continue to curse us today.”   Los Angeles County Votes to Return Beach Seized in 1924 From a Black Family https://nyti.ms/3Aaj6fy

2nd. He urges this, a must read from a good friend and widely recognized ROC blogger, Arian Horbovitz. He writes under the moniker, The Urban Phoenix.

He is commonly known for his advocacy around mass transportation, cycling and pedestrian accessibility. This is led to an evolution where he tackles issues contained herein.

Seven items from the D&C this week list in order of appearance:

  1. HISTORY MADE: The swearing in of Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson
