Update Week of 7/10/2022

Good morning!

I hope you are enjoying this wonderful weekend and weather.

As you know Frank Staropoli and I have invited you to join us to learn some vital ROC history:  “Clarissa Uprooted”.  It’s a multimedia exhibit held at the RIT downtown campus City Art Space.  First floor direct entrance opposite the Liberty Pole. We’re encouraging all to join us sometime between 2:00 and 5:00 on Friday, July 15.  We know quite a few people are not able to make the July 15 2:00 – 5:00 time for the “Clarissa Uprooted” exhibit, so if you and your cohort take the initiative, you could set up a separate date for your group!  Check available dates here:  calendly.comhttps://calendly.com/teenempowerment/clarissa-uprooted-group-visit-conversation?month=2022-07.  And if you’re not able to pull the group together, we encourage you to visit the exhibit on your own – details here:  “Clarissa Uprooted”” The exhibit closes July 24th.

Another important part of Rochester history is found in the book by Dr. Laura Warren Hill “Strike the Hammer”. This book provides a history most of us are unaware of, the Black freedom struggle in Rochester between 1940 – 1970″. The book can be found at the local library or on most eBook or on-line services. We encourage all to acquire a copy and read it.

Is there a book you have read that you would like to recommend to others? We will be placing a recommended reading list on the website soon and would like to include your recommendation.

I included the story immediately below found in today’s D&C in the weekly email. I include additional items below that one:
