Update Week of 5/15/2022

Sadly we have learned of a racially motivated murder of 10 innocent people shopping in Buffalo. Few details available on the shooter. Who equipped him, supported him and sent him on his mission of hate? Today may be a good day to process this all with Nanette Massey (see bottom of email)

Sharing #2 School Board elections are on Tuesday. Be sure to study up on the candidates running in your district. There are many candidates that profess the need for parents to “teach their own children”. How do parents do this if they have not learned our full history?

Sharing #5 Richard Glaser shares a great article that appeared in Friday’s D&C. Malcolm X’s urging of an “‘honest dialogue’ between the races” is a theme of the ERG.

Sharing #6 Scott Rasmussen alerted me to an article that first appeared in the Sports section of the D&C on Tuesday and since in other editions. A blatant example of injustice and discrimination.

Sharing #7 Nannette Massey is presenting another program (see below) next Sunday on “White Privilege” . I recommend that you attend.

BEYOND the white echo chamber with Nanette D. Massey
"But MY ancestors never..."
“But MY ancestors never…” Because we don’t talk about the real and concrete history of the means put in place to place to advantage white people above everyone else in American history, white people continue to think there are exceptions in their personal stories that exempt them from the idea of privilege. “You don’t understand, my ancestors came here and worked from nothing.” No, no they didn’t. “You don’t understand, my ancestors didn’t get here until after the Civil War.” They still benefited from the racial set up in America. And you live on top of those gains today if you’re white no matter what your circumstances. Until we all get on the same page about that, even white folks with the best of intentions are just whistlin’ Dixie. At will donation $$  Register on Eventbrite HERE   Too many white people are only talking about race in an “echo chamber” with other white people. Join writer Nanette D. Massey Sunday, 5/15, online with Zoom for real talk about race from a real world, unfiltered point of view.
